Italy completed their perfect group stage run with a 1-0 win against Wales, who ended up 2nd on the leaderboard after Switzerland's win against Turkey. A smart freekick by Marco Verratti in the 39th minute was helped on by Matteo Pessina into the Welsh net for the only goal of the evening. Verratti had a memorable game as he dominated in the midfield alongside Jorginho, conducting the game to their desired tempo. Wales lost Ethan Ampadu early in the second half after a mistimed tackle earned him a straight red to the shock of everyone, and couldn't manage to come back.
