Spain defeated Croatia 5-3 in a nail-biting extra-time thriller at the Parken Stadium to progress ahead to the quarter-final of the UEFA Euro 2020. After an early howler by Unai Simon, Spain bounced back considerably well, as Pablo Sarabia, Cesar Azpilicueta and Ferran Torres scored once each, cruising Spain to the win. However, Croatia's relentless efforts paid off as they scored two goals within the last 6 minutes through Mislav Orsic, and Mario Pasalic's wonderful header to take the game into extra-time. Croatia carried their momentum and were denied the lead with an outstanding stop by Unai Simon. Minutes later, Alvaro Morata controlled a cross on his chest and volleyed it past Livakovic to give Spain the lead, before Mikel Oyarzabal gave them a two-goal cushion in the 103rd minute, which they held on to.
