Italy advanced to the UEFA Euro 2020 final after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Spain, who missed twice from the spot after playing their third extra-time in a row in the tournament. The Spanish midfield asserted their dominance in the first half, but failed to show it on the scorecard. Federico Chiesa turned Italy's fortunes in the second half with a wonderful curler that went past Unai Simon in the bottom right corner, before substitute Alvaro Morata's calm finish after a one-two with Dani Olmo led to the equalizer for the 2012 Euro winners. However, as fate might have it, Morata missed one of the two Spanish penalties in the shoot-out as Jorginho put away the winning penalty with composure to lead his side to the final.
