Lord Mayfield, the Minister of Armaments in the British Cabinet is keen on the manufacturing of a fighter aircraft. He ropes in the Air Marshall, Mr. Carrington, to take this plan forward. The discussion is extremely confidential and even a minor slip can bring a national disaster. As luck would have it, a critical document pertaining to this confidential plan goes missing and Lord Mayfield is dumbstruck. Poirot, being the guest in Mayfield's party that evening takes over the case. Initially what seem to be obvious indications pertaining to the missing document, lead the case nowhere. Poirot has to start afresh. Will the confidential plan of fighter craft remain so or will it be exposed for the sake of national safety? Answers to these questions remain hidden in Poirot's probing.
