Raja decides to leave Mumbai and go back to his village to continue pursuing his acting career. He receives a warm welcome from his friends and family when he reaches his village. Raja is happy seeing everyone so joyous with his return. Though, somewhere deep down he is unhappy as he recalls how he was mistreated in the film industry where he worked as an assistant director.
Everyone in Raja’s village thinks that Raja has been a renowned director back in Mumbai. When people get to know that Saee Tamhankar has been shooting for a film in their village, they pester Raja to get her to click a picture with them. Raja shares his story with Saee and asks her to act like she knows him. Saee helps Raja and motivates him to chase his passion of becoming a director.
Raja’s mother suggests him to leave the movie business as his father, even after dedicating his entire life to the same couldn’t achieve much.
After finally getting a story for his film, Raja narrates it in front of everyone. All his friends and family love the concept and are eager for him to start working on his project. Later, Raja along with his friend visits a gym to shortlist a few actors for his movie.
Raja arranges a contest where he looks for actors and actresses to cast in his upcoming movie. People from all over the village assemble near a temple to give the auditions. Even after auditioning a number of people, Raja isn’t able to decide who to cast in the movie. While he walks back home, he is mesmerized seeing a girl on a scooter.
Raja sees Madhuri first time on a scooter and talks to her. The way she talks to him, he finds her extremely confident and finalizes her on being the heroine in his upcoming film. Mani tells Raja that if he casts Madhuri in his film, she wouldn’t be the part of the project any longer and leaves. Many people in the village try to butter Raja so that he casts them in his movie.
Everyone in the village is busy with Ganesh Chaturthi while Raja still hasn’t found an actor for his film. Kikya tries his best to convince Raja to cast him as an actor. Raja announces that if Lord Ganesha’s lamp remains lit for a day, he would cast an actor from his village, otherwise get someone from outside the village to act in his movie.
Raja announces that whoever’s performance he likes the most in the cultural competition, he would cast them as an actor in his upcoming film. The message spreads like fire throughout the village and everyone starts prepping up for their performances. Some dance, a few recite poetry, while others show off their acting skills. All of them wait for Raja to decide who makes it to his film.
Kikya hits the gym so that Raja can cast him as an actor in his upcoming film. The rickshaw driver who drops Raja’s mother home, refuses to take money from her as she is Raja’s mother. He meets Raja and pesters him to use his story in his film so that he could get married to his girlfriend. Madhuri visits Raja and gets really close to him only to offend her father.
While Raja is on his way to his house, Kikya blocks his way. Even after he asks him to move, he doesn't saying he won't move unless he casts him in his film. Babya sees this and fights Kikya. While he does so, Raja tells Chandya that he sees his hero in Babya and that he would be the lead actor in his film. See who Raja wants to be the heroine in his film.
