This is the story of rags-to-riches corporate tycoon Galava and his family. Galava has amassed a vast fortune but still cannot shake off the discrimination that comes with a dark complexion in a colonial hangover culture that is so obsessed with all things white. In a darkly comic fashion, Galava decides to force an elite Parsi businessman who owns a large debt to him, to marry his very fair and handsome son to Galava's daughter Madhavi.
This is the story of Gautam and Ahalya, a lower caste couple who live in the small village of Shahabpur in northern Uttar Pradesh.
