Sri Lanka put in a dominating performance in the 2nd Test, defeating Bangladesh by 209, with the hosts ending the match in the very first session of Day 5. Sri Lankan openers Lahiru Thirimanne and Dimuth Karunaratne were the main men for them, scoring 140 and 118 respectively, helping them reach a score of 493 in the 1st innings. The Sri Lankan bowlers did their jobs in the 1st innings to getting Bangladesh all out for just 251, with Praveen Jayawickrama's four wickets making the difference. Bangladesh put in a much better performance with the ball in the second innings restricting Sri Lanka to a score of just 194, but they did not have the batting power to turn the game around on the final day. An impressive showing by Jayawickrama and Ramesh Mendis, which saw them take five and four wickets respectively, ultimately won them the match.
