South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 28 runs in the 1st T20I to take the series lead at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks gave the visitors the perfect start before in-form Aiden Markram scored 48 off 33 to help them set up a target of 164 runs. Dinesh Chandimal led the chase for the hosts, scoring a wonderful 66 off 54 deliveries. Despite his knock, Sri Lanka fell short by 28 runs courtesy of some impressive death-bowling by the visitors.
