Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea continued where they left off from last season, as they won another Trophy, this time defeating Villarreal on penalties to win their second UEFA Super Cup title. Hakim Ziyech gave Chelsea the lead as the Moroccan finished off a low cross from Kai Havertz from six yards out. Villarreal levelled the match in the 73rd minute after some constant pressure with Gerard Moreno finishing off a beautiful pass from Boulaye Dia to score with a near finish. The match would ultimately go to penalties after the two teams could not be separated after 120 minutes and, it was Kepa who stepped up as he saved Raul Albiol's spot-kick to win the match for Chelsea.
